Flying Colours Consultancy Limited (referred to as “Flying Colours Consultancy”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this Privacy Notice & Cookies Policy) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your Personal Data. This Privacy & Cookies Policy will inform you as to how we look after your Personal Data when you visit our website (regardless of where you visit it from) and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.
1.Purpose of this Privacy Notice & Cookies Policy
This Privacy Notice & Cookies Policy sets out how Flying Colours Consultancy uses and protects any information that you provide when using this website — including when you send us an enquiry or apply for a role via Careers.
Flying Colours Consultancy's website is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.
2.Data Controller
Flying Colours Consultancy is the controller and responsible for your Personal Data. If you have any questions in relation to this Privacy Notice & Cookies Policy please contact us direct. We have not appointed a dedicated Data Protection Officer — this isn't a UK GDPR requirement for a business our size — but any privacy query reaches the same people who can act on it.

3.Personal Information Collected
Personal Data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).
We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of Personal Data about you:
- Identity Data
- Includes your first name and last name.
- Contact Data
- Includes your email address and, for job applicants, your telephone number.
- Profile Data
- Includes the details you submit through our 'Start a build' enquiry form (company, what you're looking to build, your message) and, if you apply for a role, the CV/resume file you upload.
- Account Data
- For authorised Flying Colours Consultancy staff only, not site visitors: an email address and a securely hashed password used to access the internal admin console that manages job postings and enquiries.
- Technical Data
- Includes standard web request information such as IP address and browser type, processed by our hosting infrastructure to serve the site securely.
- Usage Data
- Includes information about how you use our website.
We do not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data about you on our website (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health and genetic and biometric data). We do not collect any information about criminal convictions and offences on the website.
4.Information Collection
We use different methods to collect data from and about you including through:
- Direct interactions
- You give us your name, email, company and message by filling in our enquiry form, or your name, email, phone number and CV by filling in a job application on our Careers page. This also includes any Personal Data you provide by corresponding with us directly by email.
- Automated technologies or interactions
- We keep this to a minimum. The only automated technology currently in use is a single strictly-necessary cookie, set only when an authorised member of our team logs into the internal admin console — see “Cookies” below for detail. We do not otherwise automatically collect Technical Data about your browsing actions and patterns.
- Third parties or publicly available sources
- We do not currently buy, scrape or receive Personal Data about you from third parties, analytics providers or public data brokers. If this changes, we will update this section.
- Google Analytics
- We do not currently use Google Analytics or any similar analytics service on this website. If we add analytics in future, it would report on aggregate website trends only, and we would update this notice to describe it and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag
- We do not currently use the LinkedIn Insight Tag or any other advertising/re-targeting pixel on this website. If we introduce one in future, we will describe what it collects here and seek consent where required, and you would be able to opt out via your LinkedIn settings and browser cookie controls as normal.
5.Information Use
We will only use your Personal Data when the law allows us to. The table below sets out the specific legitimate interest or other lawful basis behind each use, as UK GDPR requires:
- Responding to your enquiry
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries, and — where an engagement follows — taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract.
- Assessing your job application
- Legal basis: taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract of employment or engagement, and our legitimate interest in running a fair recruitment process.
- Securing our internal systems
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the admin systems that manage this site secure and limited to authorised staff.
- Cookies
- We use one strictly necessary cookie (
fcc_token), set only when an authorised team member logs into the internal admin console. It keeps that session secure for up to 8 hours and is never set for ordinary website visitors browsing the public site. We do not currently use cookies to personalise visits, track usage or remember preferences for general visitors. - If we introduce cookies for those purposes in future, we will present a notice about it and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before setting them. Your browser also gives you the option to block cookies, though this may affect the admin console's functionality.
- Change of purpose
- We will only use your Personal Data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose. If we need to use your Personal Data for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and explain the legal basis which allows us to do so.
6.Who Has Access to Your Information?
We do not sell Personal Data, and we do not allow our third-party service providers to use your Personal Data for their own purposes — we only permit them to process it for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions. Personal Data submitted through this site is processed and stored using our cloud infrastructure provider (Amazon Web Services), for secure hosting, file storage and our database, under a data processing agreement.
Our infrastructure provider may process or store data in data centres outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards our infrastructure provider offers for international transfers (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum / Standard Contractual Clauses), so your data continues to receive a level of protection equivalent to UK GDPR wherever it is processed.
To access, change or remove the information we hold, please email us at: contact@flyingcoloursconsultancy.com
7.Security
We strive to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personal information submitted to our sites, and we review and update our security measures in light of current technologies. Data submitted through this site travels over an encrypted connection, and internal account passwords are never stored in plain text — they are salted and hashed.
If, at any time, you discover that information held about you is incorrect, you should contact us and we will correct the information we hold about you.
We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected Personal Data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.
8.Data Retention
We will only retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the Personal Data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure, the purposes for which we process it, and applicable legal requirements. In practice, this means:
- Enquiry messages
- Kept for 12 months from your last contact with us, unless an engagement begins — in which case relevant records are kept for the duration of that engagement plus our standard business record-keeping period.
- Job applications & CVs
- Kept for 12 months from the date you applied, so we can consider you for other suitable roles, then deleted. You can ask us to delete your application sooner at any time.
- Internal account data
- Kept for as long as the staff member is authorised to access the admin console, then removed.
These are our standard retention periods; we may keep data for longer where we're required to by law (for example, accounting records).
9.Your Legal Rights
You have rights under data protection laws in relation to your Personal Data, including:
- Request information on how we process your Personal Data.
- Request access to your Personal Data.
- Request rectification of your Personal Data.
- Request erasure of your Personal Data.
- Object to processing of your Personal Data.
- Request restriction of processing your Personal Data.
- Request transfer of your Personal Data (data portability).
- Right to withdraw consent.
- Challenge automated decision making.
On automated decision-making specifically: we do not currently use fully automated decision-making that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you — a person reviews every job application and every enquiry. If we introduce AI-assisted screening in future, any personal data involved will be tokenized before it reaches a model, and a human will remain responsible for any decision that affects you.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your Personal Data, please tell us first at contact@flyingcoloursconsultancy.com — we aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and respond in full within 30 days. From 19 June 2026, the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 requires us to offer this direct complaints route before you escalate further, so please do give us the chance to put things right first.
You also have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues:
Information Commissioner's Office
Wycliffe House, Water Lane
Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
- No fee usually required
- You will not have to pay a fee to access your Personal Data (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive, or we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.
- What we may need from you
- We may request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and validate your right to access your Personal Data. This is a security measure to ensure that Personal Data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it.
- Time limit to respond
- We try to respond to all legitimate requests within 30 days. Occasionally, it may take us longer if your request is complex or you have made multiple requests. In this case, we will notify you of our intention to extend this period within the first 30 days.
